The DC Lotus User Group Is Becoming Popular

Thank you Lotus Advisor ! A number of t-shirts, canvas laptop bags, conference materials, and the June edition of Lotus Advisor were given to the user group. There are some stand-out articles in this issue on AJAX, DB2 integration, e-mail modifications and content management.
For the presentations, Kevin Petitt provided a thorough overview of OpenNTF's OpenLog. By the end of his session, everyone was convinced that if you're writing LotusScript or Java agents, you need OpenLog.
The Ubuntu presentation went well—but I had a rough first five minutes when I tried to show the Nelson Mandela video. The laptop just couldn't present the video image, so we went directly into the slides and demos. I used OpenOffice's Impress to create the presentation (on Ubuntu, of course). Impress has the capability to export into a swf, Macromedia Flash file, so it's on my agenda to put the flash file in a blog. Working with R7 on Ubuntu (through VMWare) is a good transition into Hannover.
Julian Robichaux has promised to add some sophisticated, tuning techniques for Ubuntu Dapper to his blog, so you'll want to be checking NSFTools.com.
For August, Stan Reeses has agreed to present on installing and configuring WebSphere and DB2 integration. I'll post later on his description, but what he has done does sound interesting.

VMWare Server is a free beta. It's really the next-version of GSX, so it's quite stable. I had no difficulties installing it on Ubuntu 6.06--there were a few apt-gets, but everything is a simple setup.
We'll have the flash up, after I return from the ECIS conference in Toronto.
